What's an escape room!?
Picture this: You’re in a room along with 1-9 other people. Maybe you’re with your friends, family, or coworkers; maybe you’re here with your significant other; maybe you’re in this with a bunch of people you’ve never met. The clock is ticking: You have 60 minutes to escape. You look around the room — a locked tool chest; strange markings on the wall; books with their pages torn out… What does it all mean? You can only hope that by working together, solving puzzle after puzzle, you and your teammates will find the way.
That sounds awesome! how do i sign up?

Who are you crazy, crazy people?
We love games! And we love seeing people have fun with each other, in the real world, face to face. It's a beautiful thing:-)
Bryce Carlson is the Owner of Med City Escape, and a long time game lover. Drawing his inspiration to open an Escape Room from a fierce love of classic puzzle RPGs such as Zelda and Metroid, and his dedication to the customer experience from years in customer sales and service, he has created a uniquely extraordinary experience for the people of Rochester and South East Minnesota.
A: You sign up (either with others or alone); then show up, put your thinking cap on, and do everything in your power to beat the clock.
A: Completely. While you play, the venue is being constantly monitored by a trained Operator, and an emergency exit is always available in case of discomfort or actual emergency. You are never locked in a room.
A: It's not meant to be! The lights may get dim at some points, but there's no (intentionally) spooky music or sounds, no frightening pictures, and certainly no one is going to jump out at you.
A: Yes. Don’t get us wrong, it’s hard — very few teams succeed. But it’s really a win-win: If you finish in under 60 minutes, you are rewarded with eternal glory; and if you don’t make it out, you get a solid hour’s worth of fun. (And it is fun, whether you escape or not!)
A: Tickets are $24.99. Full-venue bookings are available at a 15% discount to non-profit groups. Check out your options on our bookings page.
A: Yes! Full-venue bookings are available on weekday mornings and afternoons, and some evenings. Please see our bookings page for pricing info and any other questions get in touch to schedule your booking.
A: Just a few. You have to be age 10+ to play. If you’re under 15, you have to play with a responsible adult; and if you’re 15-17, you can come alone but you need to bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. You also can’t have landed on our Prohibited Players List due to lateness, disruptive behavior, etc. Finally, if you are repeating a scenario, you must either be in a group of other “second(+) timers,” or have booked a full scenario with a group of friends who are all aware that you have already played once. (Otherwise, this would be unfair, and un-fun, for your teammates.)
A: Yes! The Study and Ex Machina accommodate 2-6 players each and the Gallery, 2-10. You’ll have 48 hours’ notice if a scenario has to be cancelled due to under-booking. (This almost never happens.) Note that you can choose to book all of the tickets in a given game if you want to make it private; otherwise, you will be meeting some new teammates!
A: Every few months, we retire one room and introduce an entirely new one — new theme, new puzzles, the works. Keeps us busy; keeps the people happy. Unfortunately, this also means that each game has a limited life span — 1 to 2 years. We encourage you to check which games are ending soonest, so you can get a chance to try them before they’re gone.
A: You can find detailed directions here!
A: All sales are final and we are unable to issue refunds, however we are happy to reschedule your game to an available time of your choosing with at least 24 hours notice.
